back to the future

Nothing will be as before. In the last months, the coronavirus pandemic has progressively affected the entire world economy, with effects that are leading to a heavy recession.

While strategies are being developed to reduce the economic impact and social consequences, digital networks and digital technologies have demonstrated their strategic value in ensuring the smooth functioning of the infrastrucures, operating on a scale and with a timing that would have been difficult to imagine just a short time ago.
The health system, the production system, the education system and even social interactions have undergone a radical and nearly immediate transformation. Millions of people, workers and students have been forced to work remotely and tranfer online their activities and relationships.
The Namex Annual Meeting 2020 was held entirely online in accordance with the COVID-19 restrictions and it addressed the discontinuity represented by the pandemic, focusing on the lessons learnt, during this dramatic experience, on the use of digital networks and digital technologies.
The Web Conference alternated keynote speakers and panel discussions, to analyse the effects of the transformations that will also remain in our future. Maybe not everything will change, but surely everything will transform.

the virtual event

Namex Annual Meeting 2020 was virtual with a brand new format. Our traditional morning conference was broadcast via live streaming  from a TV studio located in Rome.

The morning plenary was a mix of Keynote Speeches and Round Tables, for a total duration of approximately four hours.
The conference had a TV show cut with brief sessions, encouraging interaction with Q&A tools, polls and surveys.

In the afternoon we maintained the One-to-One meetings using virtual rooms on. Meeting Mojo allowed participants to check the available parties, schedule a virtual meeting in an half-hour slot and access the virtual meeting room at the appointed time.

Moreover, we had a series of parallel webinars, that were held in the afternoon, aimed at animating knowledge sharing and discussion among the professionals working within the industry.

Rome IXP History

This year we celebrate 25 years of the Rome Internet eXchange Point.

We are using the occasion to interview some of the key players and reconstruct its history. These are the first short videos, with more to follow in a dedicated web site. The historical research and the interviews have been made by Raffaella Bianchi and Marco d’Itri.
